W20 was conceived as a dynamic rooftop destination where architecture, art, dining, and live entertainment converge. Cantilevered on steel beams above an existing 1932 brick building, the venue transforms a complex historic site into a vibrant nightclub, restaurant, and open-air lounge.
Guests arrive through a dedicated elevator and a glass-enclosed staircase positioned opposite a dramatic gallery wall. This carefully orchestrated approach creates a sense of discovery, establishing art and architecture as part of the experience before guests enter the principal spaces.
Above, a retractable roof opens the nightclub to the evening sky, allowing the atmosphere to shift naturally with the weather, season, and time of day. An expansive balcony overlooks the main street and surrounding downtown district, while fireplaces provide warmth and comfort during cooler months.
A small performance stage hosts notable musicians from Southern California, Austin, Nashville, and beyond. Live music, dancing, craft cocktails, and thoughtfully prepared small plates give the venue an energy that evolves from leisurely brunch and dinner service into a compelling late-night destination.
The design was shaped around this changing rhythm. Rather than treating the restaurant, bar, nightclub, lounge, and outdoor areas as separate venues, Tower Design connected them through a cohesive architectural and material language. Guests can move effortlessly from an intimate fireside conversation to open-air dining, a live performance, or the energy of the dance floor.
The contrast between the original brick structure, exposed sky, contemporary art, music, and animated social spaces gives W20 an identity inseparable from its setting. The completed venue demonstrates how technically ambitious adaptive reuse and hospitality interior design can create an experience that is memorable, commercially versatile, and entirely distinctive.
