Los Angeles Residential | Venice, CA Walk Street Gut and Remodel
Located on one of Venice’s distinctive pedestrian Walk Streets just a half of a block from the beach, this four-level residence combines the relaxed character of coastal Los Angeles with an internationally informed collection of modern art and design.
Tower Design initially completed a partial renovation of the home before returning for a more comprehensive transformation. In this subsequent phase, the kitchen and bathrooms were taken down to their foundations and completely redesigned. Flooring, windows, fireplaces, decks, and furnishings were also replaced, creating a more cohesive architectural and visual experience from one level to the next.
Tower Design curated and placed the home’s furnishings and art, with an emphasis on authentic midcentury pieces sourced from Denmark, Germany, and Japan. Vintage finds were layered with custom-designed furnishings and contemporary elements, giving the interiors a collected, highly individual character rather than the uniformity of a newly furnished showroom.
Material, scale, and provenance guided every selection. Sculptural furniture, distinctive lighting, and carefully positioned artwork create visual continuity throughout the vertical residence while allowing each room to retain its own identity. The result feels sophisticated but never overly formal—an appropriate response to both the architecture and the creative spirit of Venice.
A separate guest residence provides visitors with privacy and comfort, while the expansive roof deck offers an elevated outdoor destination for relaxing and entertaining. Together, these spaces extend the experience of the home beyond its principal interiors and take full advantage of its coastal setting.
The completed residence brings together modern living, collectible design, and a strong sense of place. It is a home that feels cultivated over time: personal, artful, and entirely at ease within its Venice Walk Street surroundings.
