Beverly Hills Los Angeles Residential | Trousdale, CA
Tower Design’s team renovated this neoclassical home built in the 1950’s in the Trousdale neighborhood of Beverly Hills. Removing wall to wall carpets and faux marble and gilt paint on columns, we laid traditional large tile Thassos Marble floors and modernized and simplified the indoor and outdoor spaces. We incorporated the traditional elements as a backdrop to sleek modern furniture and added brightly colored touches to the now stark white interior.
The dining room table top was drawn and designed by Kathleen McMullen and hand built in Florence Italy in the classic pietra dura technique. We purchased garden statuary of back to back lions and had those gilded in Salt Lake City, Utah for the base. The chars were bought at auction and gilded in Santa Barbara and covered with Zebra hides. With the addition of the Armand Jonckers vintage Brass Etched Cocktail Table and the brass base for the Bar Table, we brought in that feel for gilded neoclassical look in a much more spare way. We used mid-century modern furniture pieces as a nod to the actual era of the home, and created a comfortable yet formal setting for the clients many parties.
